Itinerary
Day 1 – Lignan > Alpe Chaleby > Rosaire Clémont Bivouac
Meeting point is set for 10:00 AM in the hamlet of Lignan, right in front of the Saint-Barthélemy Planetarium, in the municipality of Nus.After meeting the alpine guide, the mid-mountain guide and the mule handler, we’ll prepare the gear and load the equipment onto the mules. Departure is scheduled for 11:00 AM, heading towards Alpe Chaleby, where we’ll stop for a picnic lunch near the alpine pasture around 1:00 PM.
In the afternoon, we continue our hike to reach the Rosaire Clémont Bivouac, located in a panoramic position at 2,560 meters above sea level, arriving around 5:30 PM. After some well-deserved rest, we’ll enjoy a communal dinner at the bivouac and spend the night in sleeping bags and personal mats, immersed in the silence of the high mountains.
Hiking time: approx. 5.5 hours – Elevation gain: +700 m
Day 2 – Monte Faroma > Return to Lignan
Wake-up call at 6:00 AM, followed by breakfast and gear prep.
At 7:00 AM, we begin our ascent to the summit of Monte Faroma (3,073 m), one of the symbolic peaks of the region, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Aosta Valley mountains and even the Matterhorn in the distance. After reaching the summit, we descend to a panoramic area for another picnic lunch around 1:00 PM, then continue down to Lignan, with arrival expected around 6:00 PM. The trek ends where it began: in front of the Saint-Barthélemy Planetarium, with farewells and thank-yous.
